Marigold flower contains abundant amounts of lutein. The lutein, contained within the flower’s petals, is extracted, purified and formulated into a natural, crystalline lutein extract. It is then added to an array of foods and dietary supplements from multivitamins to fruit and vegetable juices.
Lutein is produced from Marigold flowers by a multi-stage process. The extraction of Lutein from Marigold is done using the following process.
Lutein is produced from the natural source material using a proprietary technology, which includes a saponification and crystallization step. This process does not include any chemical synthesis.
Lutein pigments from marigold flowers are formulated into a marigold oleoresin and then purified into a crystalline form.
The crystals are washed to remove contaminants and collected by centrifugation, followed by drying.
It then is added to an array of foods and dietary supplements from multi-vitamins to fruit and vegetable juices.
